Srahan Annual Camps
Looking for somewhere new for Annual Camp; Need new ideas; Looking for some assistance; Want to have some fun?
If the answer to any of these questions is Yes – then maybe Srahan is your solution.
Srahan Campsite is available for Camping throughout the summer months but from July 17th to August 14th we are offering a service to organise a supported Annual Camp Programme.
A Group Specific Tailored Package & Costing will be agreed with each Group to meet your Needs
Camp Fees will include use of the Indoor Facilities in Srahan; fully equipped kitchen; warm showers; experienced support staff.
Pre-Camp planning meeting with Campsite Team to tailor the Camp to your requirements

Srahan Scout Centre located at the base of Arderin (the highest peak in the Slieve Blooms) is the ideal place for a Scouting trip for all Sections.
Centre Details
Indoor Sleeping Accomodation for upto 50 people
Main House: 2 rooms of 6 beds; 1 room of 8 plus matresses for use in Sitting Room
White House: Downstairs: 12 Beds (including segretated leader area) & Upstairs Activity Area which doubles as on ground sleeping accomodation (with matresses).
Camping Space for upto 60
Toilets & Showers (6 in all) in each building
Oil fired central heating through-out
Fully Equiped Kitchen (Gas Cookers)
Split Sitting & Dining area with Open Fire in both areas
TV available for use
Activities:
The site is located near to the Slieve Bloom Way and is suitable as a base for exploring the hills.
Nearby is some 50 acres of forestry with endless programme options
Space on site for Scout Skills and general sporting activities
Pony Trekking in local Kilvahan Stud Farm (see details below)
Fishing available in Camross- laois Angling Centre (see details below)
Cinema, Bowling & Theatre in Portlaoise
Birr Outdoor Pursuit Centre
Explore Laois, Offaly and North Tipperary (Shannon Waterways activities, Heritage Towns in Roscrea & Birr, Visit Scout Log Cabin in nearby Kinnity)

Laois Angling Centre:
Roscrea Scout Group have negociated a special Scout & Guide rate for use of their facility.
The rate is €10.00 per person which includes rod hire, fishing fees and bait (worms) for 3 hours.
Bring home to Srahan your fish for cooking on the Barbi.
This must be booked in advance and stated that you are staying in the Srahan Scout Centre.

Kilvahan Horse Drawn Carriages
Roscrea Scout Group have negociated a special Scout & Guide rate for use of their facility.
The rate is €10.00 per person ( Minimum Group charge €200 )
Which includes horse riding for approx. 15 min per person, entry into their pet farm, use of their playground and a trip in their horse drawn picnic carriage (holds 25 people approx.. This must be booked in advance and stated that you are staying in the Srahan Scout Centre.

Gerry Wallace Bus Hire
We have arranged with a local bus hire company that all those staying at Srahan Scout Centre will get preferential rates on the hire of his busses. He will collect you from the local train stations (if required ), bring you to activities etc.
This must be booked in advance and stated that you are staying in the Srahan Scout Centre.

Laois Trip
The nearby villages of Camoss and Coolrain are serviced by Government Sponsored Rural night time village transport scheme. Scouters can be collected at the door of Srahan taken into the village and home later that night for a cost of €5 return.
